Welcome Back!
Welcome back, Stinger Staff!
I hope this email finds you soaking up the last days of summer. You will find important information about our return to campus in the Stinger Stats. Please read through this information before returning to campus on Tuesday.

CONSTRUCTION UPDATES
Parrish had well over 130 crew members on campus every day this week! Things have been hopping on Polk Street, and crews have worked exceptionally hard to prepare classrooms for your return! Your classrooms are ready for you to turn them into warm, inviting spaces for learning. Final inspections are scheduled for Monday morning. Should everything go as planned with the inspection, we will begin pre-planning at West Side! Look for an email to come from me on Monday by 3:00 PM to confirm our return to campus.
You can expect Parrish and other sub-contractors to have a very active presence on campus during pre-planning. Please be mindful, we do not expect substantial completion of the entire building until July 28. Contractors will be addressing the completion of exterior items and some interior items until that date. The primary goal was to complete ALL classrooms for teaching staff to begin classroom set-up on the first day of pre-planning. After July 28, Parrish staff will remain on campus for the first 4-6 weeks of school to finish exterior and punch list items/repairs.
PRE-PLANNING PRIORITIES
We have three pre-planning priorities. Keep these in mind as you plan your days during pre-planning. You can access our pre-planning schedule here.
- Unpack & set-up classrooms.
- Prepare instruction for the 1st week of school.
- Remain flexible.
Just as you tackled packing, one bite at a time, classroom set-up may be just the same. Give yourself grace over the next two weeks.
PARKING
Staff are permitted to park in designated parking spaces in the front of the school, or the new car loop on Maple Ave. Parking in the car loop on Maple is single lane only. Staff should not park in the new delivery access road. This road is reserved for Parrish and other construction staff on campus.
PERSONAL ITEMS (PURSE, WALLETS, ETC)
Please keep all personal items locked up in your classroom/office. All classrooms have one locking cabinet. Parrish has strongly encouraged teaching staff to keep purses, wallets, etc. locked up during pre-planning.
PRE-PLANNING DRESS
Dress comfortably to safely unpack your classroom. Closed toe shoes are recommended. As in previous years, we will wear our staff shirt to the district kick-off on Wednesday, coordinate your team picture wear, and professional on Sneak-a-Peek.
TECHNOLOGY IN THE CLASSROOM & COPIERS
Our technology department is unable to access a route to move in-classroom technology and copiers until final inspections. It is our goal to have copiers up and running by Wednesday. Kim will assist with ViewBoard set-up Wednesday-Friday. Other technology (including Chromebooks) will not be addressed until we have all staff laptops, ViewBoards, copiers, and classroom phones functional.
CONNECTING TO WIFI WHEN RETURNING TO MCS BUILDING
Please see the directions below from Kim. These steps apply to laptops that have not been on the MCS network this summer. Not new staff laptops.
- At the sign-in screen, click on the Globe Internet Icon in bottom right and choose MCS-Wireless
- DO NOT Check the box to Connect Automatically.
- If it fails to connect, PLEASE TRY AGAIN!
- Once Connected, MCS-WIRELESS may become MCS-WIRELESS 2
- Begin work as usual staying connected at least 1 Hour.
- Reboot device and Choose District Radius
- Avoid connecting to BlueDevil or your laptop will not be able to print!
- Welcome Back! 😊
SO looking forward to seeing each of you in the building next week! Have an amazing final summer weekend!
Christina
