12 days of Holiday Cheer has arrived to the hive!!  Each elf is making a list and checking it twice.

  1. Finish critical Q2 content
  2. Wrap up small group instruction (and prepare to begin again in January!)
  3. Administer LDAs & Q2 CFAs
  4. Data entry and report cards
  5. Serve the community & celebrate with your class family!
We can see the elves are busy across the school and some feeling more tired than others. But the head elves are here, taking care of business and raising the Holiday Cheer in every corner of the school!!  Be prepared for surprise treats and tricks bringing the Home Alone Eras this holiday season!!

LAST DAY FOR READING SMALL GROUPS, 12/8

The last day for all reading small groups is December 8th.  Your plans during the reading block will need to be adjusted to account for the additional instructional time with the whole class.

MOY LDA ASSESSMENT WINDOW

Sara sent a detailed email to each team regarding MOY LDA administration.  Please reference this email for specific details relevant to your grade level.  The assessment schedule is below and visit this link for more detained information.

Collection week – 12/4-12/8 (Sign-up Genius links will be shared by PTA.  Please also share out in newsletters).  Students should wear field trip shirts on 12/18!  Arrive to auditorium at scheduled project time.  This is a great day for our students to serve others in our community!

Q2 REPORT CARDS DUE, 12/19

Carla will stop by each grade level during planning on 12/19 to confirm grades are posted accurately.  Please have grades posted by your planning time!

Reminder for 3rd-5th Grade:  Grading categories with weights greater than 20% should have multiple grading opportunities to allow students an opportunity to recover from a poor grade, if necessary.

Room parents are ready to support grade level holiday party needs.  Classroom teachers should reach out to room parents to coordinate party needs (volunteers & supplies).  Party times below.

  • Between late December/early January - Gifted testing results returned and eligibility determined.
  • 1/8 - MILE resumes; MILE begins for newly identified gifted students

FIELD TRIP PAYMENTS

The RevTrak store is NOW live!  Please include in your next several weekly newsletters reminders to families regarding field trip payments.  Field trips can be paid for the year, or before each trip.  It is important we gather field trip payments from as many students as possible to ensure these experiences can be provided to our students.

Fall MAP & SOR Coaching Week = JEANS!

This week brought the joy of familiar routines to whole group and small group instruction!  Our students have settled so well into your high expectations for learning.  We saw small group instruction start right at the skill level appropriate for each student.  Next week during the SOR coaching week, we will review best practices for STEPS Lessons, HFW & Oral Language.  STEPS will provide the framework necessary for our instruction to "move as quick as it can, but as slow as it must."  Your lesson preparation during small group reading will ensure adequate practice opportunities (30+) are available every day for students to read and write words aligned to the target skill.  If you would like support planning for reading small group lessons, reach out to Mary Claire (K-3) or Katy (4-5).   On the math front, Katy shared district resources available on Schoology to support math instructional planning.  If you find you would like more time to dig into math planning for your t
