3 day weekend & Snow??

It's a 3-day weekend, whoohoo!!  Thank you for a smooth MAP test administration.  Everything went exceptionally well on our end.  We know this was only because of your attention to detail!  We will dig into grade level & student MAP results next week to set instructional goals for 2024.  Stay close to the weather report this weekend... that snow day might happen (I know nothing, only reporting my own hopes)!!

MAP REPORTS PUBLISHED TO PARENTS
Parents will have access to view MAP results in Aspen on 1/23.  I encourage teachers to reach out to parents ahead of 1/23 - IF you know the parent will have questions regarding the child's current progress (ie - students with decreased scores).  Your communication can include the child's current score, your plan to support the child's learning needs in class, how the parent can help at home, or any other information that is helpful for the parent to understand the child's current performance.

PROMOTION/RETENTION PROCESS
Look for an email to come from Carla regarding the promotion/retention process and timeline.  Initial retention notification is sent to parent by the end of the month, based on Winter MAP & teacher recommendation.

YTD LEAVE FORMS
Year to date leave forms are in your box.  Note all personal leave comes out of the sick leave bank.  This record is provided for you to confirm the accuracy of leave entered & provide a reminder of the leave used August - January 12.

3RD & 5TH GRADE AFTER SCHOOL TUTORING
Our 3rd & 5th grade after school reading tutoring begins on 1/17.  Tutoring is every Monday, Wednesday & Thursday.  Classroom teachers will receive a final list of students attending.  All tutoring students are dismissed to the Gym at 3:05 (same time as walkers) for indoor movement.  Coach G will meet students at the gym.

4TH & 5TH GRADE AMBASSADOR MEETING, 1/17

YOUNG GEORGIA AUTHOR'S FAIR, DUE 1/26

It’s that time of year when we get the opportunity to recognize some of our most talented writers! Each teacher should select one piece of writing from their class to submit. It does not have to be a new piece of writing and can be any genre. It should represent a student’s own original work without assistance. You are welcome to pull any existing piece of writing that meets the competition criteria. Entries are due to Kany no later than January 26th.  A team of staff members will select a grade level winner from the classroom nominees. Please see the Competition Guidelines and see Kany if you have any questions. 

SPRING ENRICHMENT (COMMUNITY SCHOOLS) BEGINS, 1/29
Registration for after school spring enrichment classes is now open.  These classes will begin the week of 1/29.  Once registration closes, the dismissal document will be updated with enrichment class rosters.

PTA MEETING & 2ND GRADE PLAY DATE CHANGE, NOW 2/1
Please update your calendars to show the PTA Meeting & 2nd Grade Play now on 2/1 at 6:00 PM at Marietta Middle School Auditorium.  As a reminder, PTA meetings are required for certified staff.

Go Big Blue!

 First MHS football of the year - GO BIG BLUE!!  It's a great (and HOT) night to cheer on our Blue Devils at Northcutt tonight!!  I hope each of you have a restful weekend.  Bring on the cooler temperatures next week!!
