Yay for Mid-Winter Break!

WHOOHOO!!  You made it to mid-winter break!!  It has been an incredibly productive four weeks for instruction.  I hope each of you can find time to rest, recharge, and STAY healthy during the break.  

We will return for another FIVE week stretch FULL of learning and academic growth for our students.  Our instructional days are FLYING by.  Set your intentions to make the most of this time for our students.  Your consistency with routines in class, especially your data-driven reading small group and math small group.  We look forward to jumping right back into learning with you, but after a week of rest!

BOOSTER FUN RUN DATES
  • 2/26 - Kick-off pep rally during specials (auditorium)
  • 2/26 - BRIEF Faculty Meeting @ 3:30 (learning commons)
  • 2/27-3/5 - Daily Huddles during first 5 minutes of specials (auditorium)
  • 3/6 - Fun Run
This year's Fun Run begins when we return from break.  Most of the excitement will happen during the first 5-10 minutes of specials, with the Fun Run occurring on March 6.  This year, funds will be raised to support two project areas - as well as provide all classroom teachers with 10% back:
1.  Complete furnishing of the lower commons
2.  Update audio & visual equipment in the gym

NEXT PARENT 2 PARENT SERIES, FEATURING BRITTANY OSBORNE, 2/29 AT 6:00 PM
All families are welcome to join us at our next Parent 2 Parent series, featuring Brittany Osborne of Oakleaf Counseling Services. Brittany specializes in serving children with ADHD, anxiety, OCD, depression and grief/loss. Brittany will provide families with a basic understanding of how executive functioning impacts learning, as well as providing practical strategies for support executive functioning development at home.

Fall MAP & SOR Coaching Week = JEANS!

This week brought the joy of familiar routines to whole group and small group instruction!  Our students have settled so well into your high expectations for learning.  We saw small group instruction start right at the skill level appropriate for each student.  Next week during the SOR coaching week, we will review best practices for STEPS Lessons, HFW & Oral Language.  STEPS will provide the framework necessary for our instruction to "move as quick as it can, but as slow as it must."  Your lesson preparation during small group reading will ensure adequate practice opportunities (30+) are available every day for students to read and write words aligned to the target skill.  If you would like support planning for reading small group lessons, reach out to Mary Claire (K-3) or Katy (4-5).   On the math front, Katy shared district resources available on Schoology to support math instructional planning.  If you find you would like more time to...

Is it Spring Break yet?

  YES!!  The answer is, YES!!  You all made it to the most glorious break of the year after months of hard work and student progress.  In the last two weeks, we've shared with teams some remarkable student progress data in reading fluency (K-3rd), writing (4th-5th), and math (2nd-5th).  Clear evidence of the impact you've made over the last several months.  You have earned this break!  When we return, it will be a busy season - remain committed to maximizing the remaining instructional time with students.
