Thank you, thank you, thank you!!

WOW - thank you for making me feel special on my birthday!  You all sure know how to make a girl feel loved! The Starbucks gift cards, plant and student cards were the perfect way to ring in my 40s.  I just might be set with coffee until 41.

I hope each of you also felt the love from your students, families & PTA this week.  You are loved and appreciated beyond words!

SOR COACHING WEEK, 3/25-3/28

Our last SOR coaching week of the year will occur just before Spring Break!  The April coaching week will be cancelled to provide SOR Facilitators time to support implementation of the new ELA adoption & make updates to district pacing documents - with the goal to have as much ready for teachers before summer!

NEW K-5 ELA ADOPTION

As you saw in Dr. Rivera's email this week, the board approved the new district ELA adoption (Wit & Wisdom) on Tuesday.  Team leaders received the district plan to support initial implementation this May/July.  All staff will receive additional details from Dr. Rivera in the coming weeks.  Your professional knowledge has grown tremendously in reading over the last three years, and the adoption will serve to support comprehension & writing instruction.

LUNCHROOM VISITOR POLICY CHANGE

In recent weeks, we have been evaluating our lunchroom visitor policy that allows students to bring one friend to the visitor table.  There have been growing challenges with this current policy related in terms of enforceability, safety, and social/emotional impacts to students.  Effective, April 8th the lunchroom visitor policy will be changed to allow visitors to eat lunch with their student only at the visitor table.  Students will not be permitted to bring a friend to the visitor table.  This change has been discussed at length with SGT, PTA, and was shared with leadership this week.  Look for the following to take place regarding the change.

  • March 20 - Families emailed regarding the change; New policy sent home in Beelines; Signs posted in cafeteria communicating new policy
  • March 29 - Classroom teachers share new policy change with students (look for message to come directly from Christina to frame conversation in class)
  • April 8 - New policy in effect
If you have any questions or concerns regarding this change, please reach out to Christina.

PTA SUPPLY FUNDS, REIMBURSEMENT REQUEST DUE 3/29

As a reminder, receipts for PTA supply funds should be give to the PTA treasurer by March 29th.  Please turn in your receipts & reimbursement request form by this date!
