EOGs CONTINUE!

EOGs will continue next week (Tues-Thurs)!  Let's make it a smooth testing session by ensuring we are prepared as test examiners.  If you have ANY questions about test administration - ASK!  If you need support with test administration in any way - ASK!  We are here to make the weeks seamless for you and your students.

EOG Accommodation Verification is DUE TODAY to KRAUS (all EOG Examiners & Case Managers).

KINDER-2ND GRADE GRADE:  Weather permitting, please use outdoor paths for traveling to Art & Music next week, due to 3rd-5th Grade EOG testing (entering through the cafeteria).

ADJUSTED SPECIALS, BEGINS 4/29 & ENDS 5/8

Due to EOG Testing Schedule, we will begin the adjusted SPECIALS schedule on April 29.  This schedule will run through May 8.

Look for Coach G to send classroom teachers the Field Day rotation schedule.  Parent volunteers will lead each rotation.  Prior to field day, remind students of expectations to show good sportsmanship throughout the day.

  • READING SMALL GROUP SCHEDULE:  All K-2nd grade schedules should be adjusted to allow for reading small groups to occur during these times.  Mary Claire worked with team leaders to select the best time to allow small groups to continue for all K-2nd grade.

MOVIES

Please be mindful movies should ONLY be used during the school day when their purpose supports a learning goal (Ex:  at the end of a novel study; apart of teaching sci/SS content).  Their use during the school day should be limited, unless used during a lunchtime reward or after the final bell @ 3:05 PM.  Even at this time of year, learning still can happen.  Following testing, our focus is on ways to preview content for the next grade level.

Fall MAP & SOR Coaching Week = JEANS!

This week brought the joy of familiar routines to whole group and small group instruction!  Our students have settled so well into your high expectations for learning.  We saw small group instruction start right at the skill level appropriate for each student.  Next week during the SOR coaching week, we will review best practices for STEPS Lessons, HFW & Oral Language.  STEPS will provide the framework necessary for our instruction to "move as quick as it can, but as slow as it must."  Your lesson preparation during small group reading will ensure adequate practice opportunities (30+) are available every day for students to read and write words aligned to the target skill.  If you would like support planning for reading small group lessons, reach out to Mary Claire (K-3) or Katy (4-5).   On the math front, Katy shared district resources available on Schoology to support math instructional planning.  If you find you would like more time to...

  YES!!  The answer is, YES!!  You all made it to the most glorious break of the year after months of hard work and student progress.  In the last two weeks, we've shared with teams some remarkable student progress data in reading fluency (K-3rd), writing (4th-5th), and math (2nd-5th).  Clear evidence of the impact you've made over the last several months.  You have earned this break!  When we return, it will be a busy season - remain committed to maximizing the remaining instructional time with students.
