Fall MAP & SOR Coaching Week = JEANS!

This week brought the joy of familiar routines to whole group and small group instruction!  Our students have settled so well into your high expectations for learning.  We saw small group instruction start right at the skill level appropriate for each student.  Next week during the SOR coaching week, we will review best practices for STEPS Lessons, HFW & Oral Language.  STEPS will provide the framework necessary for our instruction to "move as quick as it can, but as slow as it must."  Your lesson preparation during small group reading will ensure adequate practice opportunities (30+) are available every day for students to read and write words aligned to the target skill.  If you would like support planning for reading small group lessons, reach out to Mary Claire (K-3) or Katy (4-5).   On the math front, Katy shared district resources available on Schoology to support math instructional planning.  If you find you would like more time to dig into math planning for your t

READING SMALL GROUP ROUND-UP! Reading small groups got off to a GREAT start this week!  Continue to reinforce transition routines that maximize your instruction.  Below are a few reminders as you move into the first full week. STEPS plans should be implemented every day for small group.   All components of STEPS should be covered in every lesson.  STEPS resources can be found he

Whoohoo!!  You all finished a great full week - teaching classroom/school routines and procedures, completing W&W Module 0, finishing LDAs, and building relationships with your classroom community.  As you move into week two, these are your priority areas: 1. Continue to reinforce strong classroom/school routines.  Consistency is key.  Your students will thrive off predictable routines and consistent expectations. 2.  Begin W&W Module 1. 3.  Begin reading and math small groups on Wednesday.  Monday & Tuesday should be spent reviewing expectations for when students are not working with the teacher during small group time.  K-3rd Reading:  LDA data will be available for your small group planning purposes on Monday. 4th-5th Reading:  EOG/MAP Lexile data was shared this week for your small group planning purposes. K-5th Math:  Classroom formatives or Spring MAP data can be used for forming your small groups, until Fall MAP is administered. 4.  Establish positive rapport with pa
