Full Week Done!

Whoohoo!!  You all finished a great full week - teaching classroom/school routines and procedures, completing W&W Module 0, finishing LDAs, and building relationships with your classroom community.  As you move into week two, these are your priority areas:

1. Continue to reinforce strong classroom/school routines.  Consistency is key.  Your students will thrive off predictable routines and consistent expectations.

2.  Begin W&W Module 1.

3.  Begin reading and math small groups on Wednesday.  Monday & Tuesday should be spent reviewing expectations for when students are not working with the teacher during small group time.

  • K-3rd Reading:  LDA data will be available for your small group planning purposes on Monday.
  • 4th-5th Reading:  EOG/MAP Lexile data was shared this week for your small group planning purposes.
  • K-5th Math:  Classroom formatives or Spring MAP data can be used for forming your small groups, until Fall MAP is administered.
4.  Establish positive rapport with parents/families during Curriculum Night.

5.  Continue to build your classroom community.

SHINE BRIGHT in Week 2!!

FALL LDAs FINISHED!

Bravo to all of our teachers and Reading Specialists for completing a record number 550 LDAs in just 5 days!  All LDA data will be printed for classroom teachers and reading small groups to review during PLCs next week.  You can also always review data on the Literacy Hyperdoc at any time.  Parents will receive fall LDA data during conferences in October.

TKES ORIENTATION

All TKES documents can be found on the staff Schoology course.  These tasks should be completed by your pre-conference date.

TECH TALK WITH KIM

As you know from Grant’s email, student online access to certain categories of websites has been restricted this year.  In doing so, some of the familiar apps and teaching websites have been blocked under these new guidelines.  One example is Storyline Online used by First Grade and Kinder.  The story video is shown via YouTube, which is now restricted, and though teachers can show the video on View Boards to the class, students will not be able to access it on their Chromebooks.  MCS Technology Dept. has compiled a list of Go Guardian Filtering Categories as well as an easy guide on how to look up websites that students can/cannot access.  I will put a copy of these in your mailboxes as well.  Thanks!  Kim  docx icon GoGuardian Filtering Categories.docx  docx icon Checking Student Website Access GG.docx

CRISISGO

Please contact Lindsay if your CrisisGo rosters are incorrect.

LUNCH

It was a smooth first week of lunch without teachers!  Thank you to our paras who have jumped right in to support Mrs. Francesca.  Continue to reinforce cafeteria expectations throughout the first month of school (and beyond).  Lunch visitors can return on Friday, August 16.  For our 3rd-5th grade teachers - remind students they are not permitted to bring a friend to the visitor table.
