TWO FULL WEEKS!
We have 10 days of instruction before Fall Break!  Let's maximize this time with students, continuing progress on your W&W Module 1, utilizing STEPS Lessons EVERYDAY in small group, and getting your math small groups off the ground.  Reach out in ANY way if we can support in these areas.

TALENT DEVELOPMENT, BEGINS 9/9

TD will begin on Monday!  Schedules and qualifying students were sent to HR teachers this week.  Gifted teachers will pick-up this week for TD.

MATH SMALL GROUP SUPPORT, BEGINS 9/9

Math small group support will begin on Monday.  If you have students served by Michelle, Jenna, or Emmalee please share related pacing documents with them to best support your instruction.

UPCOMING PLCs

  • 9/10 - Math Small Group Planning, using MAP Data
  • 9/17 - OT Strategies (Kinder); W&W and TWR (1st-5th Grade)
LJFA SOR WALKS, 9/11
We will continue SOR walks from Cycle 1 on 9/11.

TECH TALK FROM KIM!
Chormebook inventory is low this year.  Please speak with students about not leaving Chromebooks on the floor unattended.  20 devices were broken that have been accidentally stepped on by students.

REINFORCE RECESS RULES
If you would like to review the recess rules slide deck shared during the faculty this week, you can access the student rules HERE.  Proactive teaching of expectations and continually reinforcement of these expectations will set students up for success!

SAFETY REMINDERS
  • Exterior doors should be locked, never propped – ALL THE TIME.  Staff should be mindful when the last student enters the building to ensure the exterior door has properly closed.  This will require the staff to stop and look down the hall to see that the door has been closed.  If you see an exterior door open (and unattended), close the door immediately and notify administration right away.
  • Visitors must always enter the building through the main front doors and sign in according to procedures.
  • Visitors must always wear a VISITOR sticker while on campus.  If you see a visitor in the building without a visitor sticker, escort this person to the front office to sign in.
  • Students should be taught not to open an exterior door for any person.
  • It is a best practice for classroom doors to remain locked to easily secure your classroom in the event of an emergency.
  • If you see a concern, please share with administration ASAP.
UPCOMING DRILL
While it is not our standard practice to notify staff of upcoming drills, in light of the events this week it felt appropriate to do so.  We will have an EVACUATION DRILL (Fire Drill) on Monday, 9/9.  We will have a LOCKDOWN DRILL on Tuesday, 9/17.  These drills are part of our required drill schedule.

DUPLICATE INFORMATION FROM LAST WEEK BELOW THIS LINE

PTA DIRECT DONATION UPDATE
As of today, the PTA is 65% to goal for this year's Direct Donation.  The Direct Donation campaign ends September 13th.  Why is Direct Donation important?  It gives every teacher $250 supply money (plus additional funds for specialists), pays for subscription fees like IXL, purchases Beelines and agendas, and SO MUCH more (like playground TURF!).

Mrs. Martin's class was the first to reach 100% participation in Direct Donation & they will go on a limo ride to Lewis Park on September 20th!  But, another class incentive is starting NOW!  The NEXT class to reach 100% participation in Direct Donation will earn a PJ & Donut Party!  Continue to encourage participation in PTA Direct Donation from NOW until SEPTEMBER 13th!
