Fall Break - we feel you near!

Fall break - we feel you near!  Next week, continue to make good progress through W&W Module 1.  We have 15 days until the end of Q1 and the start of Conference Week.  It's a good goal to complete W&W M1 before conference week begins!  

As you further settle into your small group reading and small group math, remember our commitment to every STEP - EVERY day.  If you would like support planning small group instruction, reach out to Mary Claire (K-3rd Grade Reading) OR Katy (K-5th Grade MATH; 4th-5th Grade Reading).

  • Reading Small Group:  ALL students should receive small group reading EVERY day (when not served by a reading specialist... K-3rd= 30 mins; 4th-5th= 20 mins)
  • Math Small Group:  ALL students should receive small group math at least TWICE per week 

HISPANIC HERTIAGE MONTH ASSEMBLY, 9/16

We are excited to host La Candela Flamenco, a professional flamenco dance troupe. This event is a unique opportunity for our students to experience the vibrant and passionate art of flamenco, a traditional dance that originates from Spain and is deeply rooted in Hispanic culture.

Arrive to the gym no later than 1:30 PM.  

  • Specials Teachers:  Bring 2nd grade to the gym no later than 1:30 PM.  You will then dismiss 1st grade from the assembly to the remainder of their specials time.  
  • 2nd Grade Teachers:  Arrive to gym at the end of your regular specials time (2:05).

We will have a brief faculty meeting next week with Brian Wallace, the new district safety coordinator.  Following the faculty meeting, vertical teams will meet (SOR, LLT & MLT).

CONFERENCE WEEK PARENT NOTIFICATION
You received an email today from Christina regarding Conference Week communication.  You can view the Conference Week Preparation information here. Please reach out if you have any specific questions regarding this email.  Immediate action items include:

1. By 10/2, create a sign-up genius link for scheduling conferences.
2. By 10/2, create a google form for parents to submit questions before conference week.  This helps your preparation for the conference.
2. ON 10/2, send parent conference week email by 4:00 PM - including sign-up genius link & google form for questions.

REINFORCE RECESS RULES
If you would like to review the recess rules slide deck shared during the faculty this week, you can access the student rules HERE.  Proactive teaching of expectations and continually reinforcement of these expectations will set students up for success!

Fall MAP & SOR Coaching Week = JEANS!

This week brought the joy of familiar routines to whole group and small group instruction!  Our students have settled so well into your high expectations for learning.  We saw small group instruction start right at the skill level appropriate for each student.  Next week during the SOR coaching week, we will review best practices for STEPS Lessons, HFW & Oral Language.  STEPS will provide the framework necessary for our instruction to "move as quick as it can, but as slow as it must."  Your lesson preparation during small group reading will ensure adequate practice opportunities (30+) are available every day for students to read and write words aligned to the target skill.  If you would like support planning for reading small group lessons, reach out to Mary Claire (K-3) or Katy (4-5).   On the math front, Katy shared district resources available on Schoology to support math instructional planning.  If you find you would like more time to dig into math planning for your t
