Conference Week Success, now bring on Q2!

It was a conference week success!  Thank you for your hard work preparing for each conference.  Next week, will be busy with our SOR coaching week and some special visitors on campus.  As we begin Quarter 2, continue to maximize your instructional time, remain focused on your intentional small group instruction in reading and math, keep routines consistent, and expectations HIGH!

BSP LOCATION

Beginning on Monday, 10/21 BSP will be in the Gym.  These students will go to the cafeteria for breakfast, before walking to class.

SOR COACHING WEEK NEXT WEEK!
Our next SOR coaching week is 10/21-10/24.  Christina sent an email with the schedule for the week.  Katy emailed all teachers part of the walkthrough team for this cycle.  In K-3rd grade, the coaching focus is on phonemic awareness, phonics, and orthographic mapping.  To support instruction in these areas, remember...

STATE SUPERINTENDENT RICHARD WOODS VISTS WEST SIDE! 10/22

We will host State Superintendent Richard Woods on Tuesday from 1:30-2:00 in the auditorium.  The BOE, central office staff, and leaders from MHS, MMS & MCAA will be on campus for Superintendent Woods to present achievement and growth awards to our respective schools.  The visit will not include classroom observations, just know we have special guests on campus!

MSGA/MMS LITERACY VISITS, 10/25
Staff from MSGA & MMS will be on campus to conduct observations in literacy.  A schedule has been sent to teachers who will have visitors in their classrooms.

TKES WALKTHROUGHS
We began TKES walkthroughs this week.  As a reminder, all FLEX teachers will have 1 WT & 1 Formative Observation.  All FULL teachers will have 4 WTs & 2 Formative Observations.

HALLOWEEN EXPECTATIONS
As we have in previous years, staff may choose to dress up for Halloween in team themes.  October 31st is a dress down day for students, but costumes are not encouraged for students - unless for a specific academic purpose. Ex:  5th Grade students will dress as puns, as part of W&W Module 2.   Students can wear Halloween colors/holiday attire, since it is a dress down day.

WS PTA SILENT AUCTION - CALLING ALL STAFF EXPERIENCES!
Our PTA is preparing for the annual Silent Auction, which is a major fundraising event for the PTA.  As part of the auction, PTA would like to continue to offer Staff Experiences.  These are often times the most sought after auction items for our students/families!  Please consider donating your time for a silent auction staff experience as a way to support our phenomenal PTA!
