Excitement is Rising!

With just two weeks until spring break, students and staff are feeling the excitement of a little break around the corner.  Let's not lose our focus as we inch closer to the break.  Your intentional instruction and commitment to every student will result in HUGE progress for students.  New Q3 math data will become available to support small group planning, ensuring every student is provided opportunities for mastery of the grade level standard - OR extension when ready!  In grades 3-5, new Assesslet data has been (or will be) reviewed to support writing goals as you reach the final stretch to EOG.  & in reading, your daily small group instruction should be focused on the need of individual groups as students move through stages of reading development (decoding/encoding - fluency - morphology/vocabulary - text comprehension - & written expression).  If you need support in any area, or simply want a thought partner as you consider how to ensure mastery of a skill or extend instruction, reach out to any person on our support team (Katy, Mary Claire, Erin, Emily, Anna, Carla, Lindsay & Christina!) - we are here for YOU!!

There is LOTS of information included as we move into a busy, busy season!!

UPCOMING PLCs
  • 3/25:  K-1st: Phonic Books & TWR; 2nd: ReadWorks in Small Group; 3rd-4th: Q3 Math Data Dig; 5th:  MSGA Class Placement
  • 4/1:  New ELA Standards Training #2

SPRING SUPERVISION

Our students are doing a great job making good decisions and remaining engaged in learning this spring!  With Spring Break approaching in two weeks, please be mindful of the importance in remaining diligent in your supervision of students at all times during the day.  We can all proactively prevent problems from arising with our class procedures (in the restroom & hallways), providing consistent reteaching of our expectations, and remaining visible.  You might also find that it is a good to introduce class or individual student positive behavior supports, if you find your students requiring more frequent reminders/redirection.  A few items to reflect upon...

  • How do I monitor student computer activity, holding students accountable for accessing ONLY the website/program you have directed them to use at a given time?
  • How does our team set students up for success during recess?  Are we active in supervising the entire playground?
  • How do my classroom procedures set students up for success during restroom breaks (limiting the number of variables in the restroom that could cause problems to bubble)?
  • Would my class benefit from specific social stories to pre-teach/re-teach social situations that have caused challenges?  If so, reach out to Ms. Rambert or Mrs. Woityra for a mini-visit!
STUDENT TECHNOLOGY CHECKS
If students report issues with their technology (broken screen, sticking keys, etc.) please enter a Tech Ticket for Kim to repair the device before spring testing season begins.  This is especially important for 3rd-5th grade classrooms!

LOOKING BACK AT TWR GOALS
As we continue to reflect and refine our practices in reading and writing, these were our goals related to SOR/TWR from March 2024.  How are you making these practices a priority in your instruction in March 2025?  Have your students mastered these skills, and they are working on more complex skills in TWR progression?  Refer the TWR skills progression HERE for building student skills.

PASTRIES WITH PARENTS, 4/1-4/3 7:45-8:30 AM

We are excited to host our annual Pastries with Parents event.  Families will enjoy morning pastries and coffee in the cafeteria.  Visitors are required to sign-in at the front office.  With this location, it may result in more parents walking students to class.  We hope the 8:28 AM morning PA announcements will indicate to parents we have begun our instructional day.  You can also protect your instructional day by promptly beginning instruction at 8:30 AM to signal that learning has begun!
