Three Cheers for 3rd Grade!

 

Three cheers for 3rd grade - & to every teacher who supported the work along the way and every teacher who came before!!  How lucky are we to have such phenomenal educators helping our students reach their fullest potential!?  We could not be more grateful for the hard work and commitment you put into each day!!

As we move into the second full week of school, continue dedicate time for explicit instruction in routines, procedures, and expectations.  If you expect it, pre-correct it!  Are you spending more time in re-direction OR in positive reinforcement/praise (I like the way XXX has cleaned up their materials... thank you, XXX for showing you're ready) and explicit instruction of expectations?  Live in pre-correction more than re-direction.  :)  Next week will also begin the introduction of reading small groups, which comes with its own set of routines/procedures.  Focus on building your students' independence during these times with explicit direction, visual reminders, and other supports.  If you need any support, do not hesitate to reach out!

Please see the Vision to Learn schedule below.  If you receive an opt-out form, please give to Nunez.  These students should not complete the screening.  All screenings will occur in the PTA Room.
CURRICULUM NIGHT REMINDERS, 8/14
  • Tidy up your classroom :)
  • Update Curriculum Night presentation before Thursday.  Will be shared with team leads on 8/11.
  • Prepare Curriculum Night parent information
    • IXL Parent Letter
    • 3rd-5th Grade Common Grading Agreement (copies will be made for you)
    • 3rd-5th Grade Homework Practice & Reading Challenges (consistent across the grade)
    • Field Trip Parent Letters (copies will be made for you)
    • Field Trip Permission Slips (copies will be made for you)
  • Dinner served at 5:15 PM.
  • Arrive to Gym by 6:00 PM for staff introductions.

Thanksgiving Break, Praise the Lord!

  YOU MUST SING THE BELOW IN THE TUNE OF DEF LEPPARD, POUR SOME SUGAR ON ME.  :) WHOOHOO!  You made it to Thanksgiving, and in the words of our Kinder ministers, "Praise the Lord!"  It was a great week of feasts, Kinder pilgrims, Wampanoag men/women, and turkeys!  Thank you for your flexibility with the busy events of the week.  As we move into the final weeks of Q2, our days will be filled with W&W Module and Math unit completion, assessment, field trips, and celebration.  Consistent routines will be very important during December to maximize your instructional time and provide necessary structure for students.
