OPEN ENROLLMENT, MESSAGE FROM MCS HR

We hope you’ve had an opportunity to explore our revised Employee Benefits Center (EBC) website, designed in partnership with our new benefits broker, Mark III. Click here to watch a short introductory video.

As a reminder, Open Enrollment for your 2026 benefits will take place October 20 – November 7, 2025. From the EBC, select Enroll Now to review enrollment steps and schedule a meeting with a benefits counselor. Note: The enrollment platforms will not be available until October 20, 2025.

For any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact the MCS Employee Benefits Center at 1-833-587-2109 (Monday – Friday; 8:00 am – 5:00 pm). You can also email MCS Human Resources at humanresources@marietta-city.k12.ga.us.

CERTIFICATE RENEWAL & FINGERPRINTING, 10/21
If it's your lucky year to complete certificate renewal, you have received an email from Human Resources.  A representative from central office will be on campus 10/21 to complete fingerprinting.  Mandy has emailed the time you are assigned to complete fingerprints.  Please be sure to arrive on time with all required documents.

KINDERGARTEN ALPHABET PARADE, 10/24
Come celebrate the Kinders in our Alphabet Parade!  Our newest Stingers have worked hard to learn all letters sounds and letter formation.  See the parade route below.  Arrive to your grade level assigned area by 8:55 AM.
CCYA PAJAMA PANTS CHALLENGE, 10/30
Students can bring $1.00 to wear PJs to school, supporting The Center for Children and Young Adults raising awareness for youth homelessness.  PTA will provide a collection bag to each HR teacher.  The collection bags will be picked up from your classroom by 9:00 AM.
*This is also one of the Red Ribbon Week activities.

STAFF HALLOWEEN DRESS UP! 10/31
Staff are encouraged to wear festive character dress up, or Halloween attire (think: your mom's favorite pumpkin sweater) on Friday, 10/31!  JEAN WEEK will be awarded to the most spirited and original team!  Kinder & 1st grade teachers are headed to the farm this day - next year for these teams!

Join us for the annual 3rd grade Wax Museum!!  These Stingers have worked hard on reading, research, writing, and presentation skills to bring to life an engaging learning experience.

Q1 MCS MATH BENCHMARK, DUE 10/24
The assessment window opens next Monday for the Q1 Math Benchmark.  Teams should coordinate the assessment dates giving the assessment on/around the same date.  Reach out to Katy if you have any questions about the assessment.  
***Recess coverage support will be provided by admin to provide teachers with additional time to score items and enter assessment results in Performance Matters.  We will coordinate coverage needs with the team leader/MLT for each team.

  • Read Works Texts - K through 5th
  • Text Structure Poster - list text structures along with corresponding graphic organizers
  • Graphic Organizers - features text structure organizers
  • STEPS Planning Sheet - blank 5-day organizer
  • Comprehension Menu - lists different activities that can be done before, during and after reading
  • NEW Resource - Commonlit.org - Grades 3-8 resource that provides a ton of Lexile level text on a ton of topics that come with paired texts at times and videos - it also has comprehension questions and teacher guidance for instruction without being a TE - very teacher and student friendly with thoughtful texts and materials

WSSN!  HOW CAN I ACCESS THE WSSN EACH WEEK?
We have created a show page for teachers to easily access WSSN each week from your ViewBoard.  Follow these steps to create a shortcut to keep the show page one click away:
  1. Open the WSSN Show Page
  2. Click 3 dots on Google Toolbar
  3. Choose Cast, Save and Share
  4. Create Shortcut (It will appear on the Desktop)
  5. When you open the Shortcut, click on the Monday morning date to access WSSN for that week!
  6. Watch with your class. :)

There are THREE steps to follow, if you are going to out unexpectedly.
  1. Text both Carla and Lindsay.
  2. Fill out Employee Leave Yellow form (DIGITAL FORM HERE).

Thanksgiving Break, Praise the Lord!

  YOU MUST SING THE BELOW IN THE TUNE OF DEF LEPPARD, POUR SOME SUGAR ON ME.  :) WHOOHOO!  You made it to Thanksgiving, and in the words of our Kinder ministers, "Praise the Lord!"  It was a great week of feasts, Kinder pilgrims, Wampanoag men/women, and turkeys!  Thank you for your flexibility with the busy events of the week.  As we move into the final weeks of Q2, our days will be filled with W&W Module and Math unit completion, assessment, field trips, and celebration.  Consistent routines will be very important during December to maximize your instructional time and provide necessary structure for students. Fall Break, YES!

Fall break has arrived!!  It's a perfect time to rest and recharge before the busy month of October arrives.  Whether you're traveling next week, or staying close to home - I hope you are able to enjoy the slow pace of a break.  When we return from the break, we will jump right into our first SOR Cycle, conference week, HOCO, and all the other fall treasures.   Also when we return from the break, we have just TWO weeks left for Q1!  Keep focused on instructional goals for this quarter, maximizing your time with students in daily reading and math small group instruction.  Good-bye to our apples & jeans!  Soups & sweaters are coming soon!
