No Spooky Scary Skeletons!

It was another great week of teaching and learning at West Side!  You're making great progress on W&W M2 or Bridge Units (3rd-5th), tackling new units in Math, and keeping a strong focus on small group instruction in reading and math.  Next week, is Halloween week - but, don't fret!  It's never scary at West Side!  There are maybe only a few spooky, scary skeletons around the hive.  Watch here for a little skeleton giggle to kick off Halloween week!

VETERANS DAY, 11/7
Our 3rd grade students and Singing Stingers will celebrate Veterans Day on Friday, 11/7.  RSVPs requested by 10/30.

Who performs?  All 3rd grade students, 4th/5th Grade Singing Stingers ONLY
Who attends?  K-2 & 4th-5th grade students with a Veteran in attendance.  Teachers will receive the list of student attendees by 11/5.
Who participates in the parade?  All K-2nd grade students.  Look for the parade route to come.

As a reminder, Open Enrollment for your 2026 benefits will take place October 20 – November 7, 2025. From the EBC, select Enroll Now to review enrollment steps and schedule a meeting with a benefits counselor. Note: The enrollment platforms will not be available until October 20, 2025.

WSSN!  HOW CAN I ACCESS THE WSSN EACH WEEK?
We have created a show page for teachers to easily access WSSN each week from your ViewBoard.  Follow these steps to create a shortcut to keep the show page one click away:
  1. Open the WSSN Show Page
  2. Click 3 dots on Google Toolbar
  3. Choose Cast, Save and Share
  4. Create Shortcut (It will appear on the Desktop)
  5. When you open the Shortcut, click on the Monday morning date to access WSSN for that week!
  6. Watch with your class. :)

Fall Break, YES!

Fall break has arrived!!  It's a perfect time to rest and recharge before the busy month of October arrives.  Whether you're traveling next week, or staying close to home - I hope you are able to enjoy the slow pace of a break.  When we return from the break, we will jump right into our first SOR Cycle, conference week, HOCO, and all the other fall treasures.   Also when we return from the break, we have just TWO weeks left for Q1!  Keep focused on instructional goals for this quarter, maximizing your time with students in daily reading and math small group instruction.  Good-bye to our apples & jeans!  Soups & sweaters are coming soon!
