Notice November
It was a wonderful week at West Side, being reminded of what makes our school so special! This November, take notice of the AMAZING work each of you are doing to serve and support our students. We can easily become too busy to recognize the wins throughout the week. I hope you can all notice this November the way West Side shows up for the students we serve. There's so much to be grateful for at West Side - and no staff more committed to our be a special part of our success story! Just a few things from this week...
- 3rd grade students were SHINING STARS in the Wax Museum (costumes & tri-folds were 10/10!), & then today during the Veterans Day program. You will only find these memorable moments at West Side!
- Our student newspaper made the front page of the MDJ today with a full-page feature!
- District visitors were impressed with the high expectations, explicit and engaging instruction, and the student focused environment created in every classroom!
- SOR walks showed intentional focus on fluency, text comprehension, and vocabulary. Instructional activities planned were rigorous (text matched student need) and ample practice opportunities provided to strengthen learning!
- WS community showed up BIG for the 1st Friday Can Food Drive with the MOST donations of any school!
- More than 1,500+ socks were picked up by MUST ministries, collected by K-Kids!
- Singing Stingers delivered an amazing performance to our Veterans and their service to our country!
- & then, the GaDOE named West Side a Literacy Leader & Math Leader School (3 years running)! With special recognition in these areas: Literacy 3rd Grade Gateway Achievement; Math 3rd Grade Achievement; Math 5th Grade Gateway Growth
