SOR WEEK RECAP!
Thank you for a productive SOR Cycle Coaching Week! I am always grateful for your professionalism, engagement, and reflection. It's truly what makes each of you the very best in the land! Please be sure to access the RESOURCE link sent by Katy (& included HERE). It's FILLED with text that can be used with your students in small group or whole group. It is well worth your time to explore what's included!
As you move into the final week before mid-Winter Break, remain intentional on ways to support Oral Language and Text Comprehension. Our goals through February/March!
Oral Language:
- Intentionally increase opportunities for total response in the classroom (choral response, response cards, hold ups, etc)
- Increase opportunities for students to engage in structured turn & talks to use language and academic vocabulary
- Increase STUDENT time reading text during small group, where ALL students are doing the reading (independently, with a partner, or chorally) - this should be the bulk of time during small group
- Thoughtfully select the Text Structure focus to aide deep comprehension (Challenge Yourself... if you've used Description with students, select different text structures for the rest of the year!)
