It was a FULL week of learning - for our students & the staff!  Thank you for making it a productive week of learning for all.  Next week is another 5-day week, with mid-Winter break right around the corner.  Continue your diligent focus to make the most of each day!  Grateful for your impact each and every day!

SOR WEEK RECAP!

Thank you for a productive SOR Cycle Coaching Week! I am always grateful for your professionalism, engagement, and reflection. It's truly what makes each of you the very best in the land! Please be sure to access the RESOURCE link sent by Katy (& included HERE). It's FILLED with text that can be used with your students in small group or whole group. It is well worth your time to explore what's included!

As you move into the final week before mid-Winter Break, remain intentional on ways to support Oral Language and Text Comprehension. Our goals through February/March!

Oral Language:

  • Intentionally increase opportunities for total response in the classroom (choral response, response cards, hold ups, etc)
  • Increase opportunities for students to engage in structured turn & talks to use language and academic vocabulary
Text Comprehension:
  • Increase STUDENT time reading text during small group, where ALL students are doing the reading (independently, with a partner, or chorally) - this should be the bulk of time during small group
  • Thoughtfully select the Text Structure focus to aide deep comprehension (Challenge Yourself... if you've used Description with students, select different text structures for the rest of the year!)

REMINDERS FROM LAST WEEK ARE BELOW!

PETER PAN, 2/11-2/12

Our Tuesday drama cast will take flight on 2/11-2/12 for the production of Peter Pan Jr. Evening performances begin at 7PM. Come out and support our awesome students! Tickets can be purchased HERE.

The school production is scheduled for 2/11. Please see trip details and logistics below.
Trip Details:
  • Permission Slips were signed at the beginning of the year.  Nothing to send home
  • Field trip shirts not required.
  • NO 3rd grade or 5th grade specials.  NO reading small groups from 9:30-11:00.
  • First bus shuttle (3rd-5th Grade + 2A/2B) will leave at 9:30 AM.  WS staff will be at Marietta Middle School to assist with seating and provide supervised restroom breaks.
  • Second bus shuttle (K-1st Grade + 2C/2D/2E) will leave at 9:45 AM.
  • The show will begin at 10:00 AM.  The show run time is approximately 60 minutes. 
  • First return shuttle (K-1st Grade + 2C/2D/2E) will leave at approximately 11:00 AM. Kinder needs to report straight to the cafeteria.
  • Second bus shuttle (3rd-5th Grade + 2A/2B) will leave at 11:15 AM.
  • No changes to lunch schedules.

BOOSTERTHON COMING SOON!
We will kick-off Boosterthon after mid-winter break.  This year's Fun Run will assist with the completion of the turf field and give back to your classroom (10% Classroom Giveback!).  Please note these dates.
  • 2/24 – Booster Kick-off in Auditorium, during Specials
  • 2/24 – Homeroom Teacher Meeting (3:30 in Learning Commons)
  • 2/25-3/3 – Booster Huddles in Auditorium, first 5 minutes of Specials
  • 3/3 – Fun Run t-shirts distributed
  • 3/4 – Booster Fun Run

WSSN!  HOW CAN I ACCESS THE WSSN EACH WEEK?
We have created a show page for teachers to easily access WSSN each week from your ViewBoard.  Follow these steps to create a shortcut to keep the show page one click away:
  1. Open the WSSN Show Page
  2. Click 3 dots on Google Toolbar
  3. Choose Cast, Save and Share
  4. Create Shortcut (It will appear on the Desktop)
  5. When you open the Shortcut, click on the Monday morning date to access WSSN for that week!
  6. Watch with your class. :)
STAFF ABSENCE REMINDERS!
There are THREE steps to follow, if you are going to out unexpectedly.
  1. Text both Carla and Lindsay.
  2. Fill out Employee Leave Yellow form (DIGITAL FORM HERE).
  3. Complete absence in Kelly/Frontline.

12 days of Holiday Cheer!

It's our favorite time of year - Holidays in the Hive!  We love surprising you throughout the month with littles treats and treasures to bring you holiday cheer.  Some teams began the off campus outings today, with more scheduled next week.  We hope you find you find the time for team fellowship to fill your cup. Fall Break, YES!

Fall break has arrived!!  It's a perfect time to rest and recharge before the busy month of October arrives.  Whether you're traveling next week, or staying close to home - I hope you are able to enjoy the slow pace of a break.  When we return from the break, we will jump right into our first SOR Cycle, conference week, HOCO, and all the other fall treasures.   Also when we return from the break, we have just TWO weeks left for Q1!  Keep focused on instructional goals for this quarter, maximizing your time with students in daily reading and math small group instruction.  Good-bye to our apples & jeans!  Soups & sweaters are coming soon!
