Three Cheers for a 5-day School Week!

A return to a 5-day school week was much needed!  Thank you for quickly returning to familiar classroom routines to help student success.  As you know, these next several weeks are SO important for students to continue progress and reach individual growth goals.  The distractions of spring break, testing & May-hem are far in the horizon.  Continue to keep your days thoroughly planned, forging ahead with W&W M3 & math units and prioritizing intentional small group instruction.  If we can support in any way over the next 10 days, reach out!   ACCESS TESTING DONE! ACCESS testing is completed! Thank you to everyone for being flexible as we did make-ups after our inclement weather days. A special thank you to Ms. Fahey and Ms. Ly for helping with test administration! UPCOMING PLCS 2/4 - Follow-up from team identified mid-year needs 2/11 - SOR Coaching Week 2/18 - Mid-winter Break! Short week, packed week!

It was a jammed packed 2-1/2 days of school.  The cutest production of "Giraffes Can't Dance", Career Day, LLT meeting on campus, 100th day of school & 101st day of school!  Bravo to our 2nd grade students who truly SHINED on stage!!  They were an animated group of precious jungle animals and future stars.  In addition to all the events in a short week, you remained focused on W&W M3, intentional small groups, and Q3 math units.   It's amazing what a talented group of educators, like YOU, can do in a short week!   Mid-winter break is in just 15 school days!  These next 3 weeks are critical points of instruction.  Remain consistent with your instructional routines and procedures, maximize every bit of instructional time with students, and stay diligent in your planning/preparation for small group instruction. If you need any support during these next few weeks, do not hesitate to reach out!   STINGER STORIES Read the lat...

Full Week & 3-day Weekend!

We had a FULL week of learning and classroom visits.  Thank you to the teachers who opened their doors for W&W observations and the next round of LJFA Walks.  It is evident that our staff is working hard and our students are becoming more skilled readers and writers.  Across the school we observed students exposed to complex text, rich vocabulary, lessons that built text comprehension, and students writing about text.  As we continue to refine practices to support text comprehension, remember the instructional strategies grounded in the science of reading... how do your W&W lessons (or Reading SG lessons for consolidated readers) address these practices? Establish a purpose for reading and teach relevant vocabulary that builds new knowledge Assist students in organizing new understandings by explicitly teaching or reviewing text structure Use graphic organizers during/after reading, that match the text structure type, for students to demonstrate understanding...

Return from Break & a Snow Day!

It's been a busy start to 2025 - with a snow day & all!  It's our first 5 day school week since the week of December 16th.  With the start of reading/math small groups, new W&W modules and new math units, it will be a productive week of learning.  Next week, is another short week with MLK, Jr. day on Monday.  Let's make the most of every day this week! PTA TEACHER APPRECIATION SURVEY As our phenomenal PTA begins to plan teacher appreciation events for this spring, they would like to get your feedback on favorite ways to be treated.  Please complete the brief survey by Friday, 1/17 .
