Three Cheers for a 5-day School Week!

A return to a 5-day school week was much needed!  Thank you for quickly returning to familiar classroom routines to help student success.  As you know, these next several weeks are SO important for students to continue progress and reach individual growth goals.  The distractions of spring break, testing & May-hem are far in the horizon.  Continue to keep your days thoroughly planned, forging ahead with W&W M3 & math units and prioritizing intentional small group instruction.  If we can support in any way over the next 10 days, reach out!  

ACCESS TESTING DONE!

ACCESS testing is completed! Thank you to everyone for being flexible as we did make-ups after our inclement weather days. A special thank you to Ms. Fahey and Ms. Ly for helping with test administration!

BRIEF FACULTY MEETING, 2/5

We will have a brief faculty meeting this Wednesday at 3:30.  Leadership team will meet following the faculty meeting.

FROZEN KIDS SCHOOL WIDE PERFORMANCE, 2/5

We look forward to bringing the entire school to enjoy the Frozen Kids performance on Wednesday, 2/5 at the Marietta Middle School Auditorium.  Please see trip logistics and reminders below.   

  1. Permission Slips were signed at the beginning of the year.  Nothing to send home.
  2. Field trip shirts not required.
  3. NO 3rd grade or 5th grade specials.  NO reading small groups from 9:30-10:45.
  4. First bus shuttle (3rd-5th Grade + 2A/2B) will leave at 9:30 AM.  WS staff will be at Marietta Middle School to assist with seating and provide supervised restroom breaks.
  5. Second bus shuttle (K-1st Grade + 2C/2D/2E) will leave at 9:45 AM.
  6. The show will begin at 10:00 AM.  The show run time is approximately 30 minutes. 
  7. First return shuttle (K-1st Grade + 2C/2D/2E) will leave at approximately 10:40 AM.
  8. Second bus shuttle (3rd-5th Grade + 2A/2B) will leave at 10:55 AM.
  9. No changes to lunch schedules.

We will run a similar schedule for Alice in Wonderland, Jr. on March 7th. 

MTSS TEAM MEETINGS, CANACELLED 2/6

We will not have team MTSS meetings during planning on Thursday, 2/6 (enjoy the gift of time!).  Many MTSS needs are being addressed through ongoing intervention or upcoming meetings.  If you have a student of concern, or area of need that Erin can support please reach out to her via email.  Erin is happy to schedule a time to meet with you 1:1 to discuss the specific student or need.

TECH TALK FROM KIM

We FINALLY have a working Guest Wifi!  Here is the new protocol that Torey set up.  Reach out to Kim with a tech request if you need help setting up Guest Wifi for you and/or an approved visitor using Wifi on campus.

  • Approved guests can connect to MCS-WIFI with a specific password that is generated by the school Techs. The password provided will only work on that device.
  • Email me (or send me a Wifi Access Ticket) when you know of a guest coming with the name and length of visit.   I will generate a password and help them get connected or I can send you the password.
  • Directions are attached on how guests get connected now.  Please be familiar with this in case I am not onsite!

FROZEN KIDS, 2/5-2/6

Our Frozen Kids production will hit the stage in two weeks!  These 3rd-5th grade students have worked hard all year.  If you would like to attend the evening performances, tickets can be purchased at the link below.  Kids young (and old) will LOVE this production!

SPRING GIFTED TESTING
Spring gifted testing will quickly approach.  Anna will take lead on all Spring testing.  The following dates will begin a smooth testing season.
  • 1/31 - Consent for gifted testing will be sent home.
  • 2/24 - Gifted testing begins
  • 2/24-3/14 - MILE PAUSED FOR SPRING GIFTED TESTING

Fall MAP & SOR Coaching Week = JEANS!

This week brought the joy of familiar routines to whole group and small group instruction!  Our students have settled so well into your high expectations for learning.  We saw small group instruction start right at the skill level appropriate for each student.  Next week during the SOR coaching week, we will review best practices for STEPS Lessons, HFW & Oral Language.  STEPS will provide the framework necessary for our instruction to "move as quick as it can, but as slow as it must."  Your lesson preparation during small group reading will ensure adequate practice opportunities (30+) are available every day for students to read and write words aligned to the target skill.  If you would like support planning for reading small group lessons, reach out to Mary Claire (K-3) or Katy (4-5).   On the math front, Katy shared district resources available on Schoology to support math instructional planning.  If you find you would like more time to...

Thanksgiving Break, Praise the Lord!

  YOU MUST SING THE BELOW IN THE TUNE OF DEF LEPPARD, POUR SOME SUGAR ON ME.  :) WHOOHOO!  You made it to Thanksgiving, and in the words of our Kinder ministers, "Praise the Lord!"  It was a great week of feasts, Kinder pilgrims, Wampanoag men/women, and turkeys!  Thank you for your flexibility with the busy events of the week.  As we move into the final weeks of Q2, our days will be filled with W&W Module and Math unit completion, assessment, field trips, and celebration.  Consistent routines will be very important during December to maximize your instructional time and provide necessary structure for students.
