SOR COACHING WEEK
Angie is on campus this week for the last coaching week of the year.  This week, Angie will deliver the second training for the new ELA standards focused on the Foundations Domain.  All teachers who teach or support reading should attend PLCs this week to receive training #2.  Walks this cycle will focus on writing.  Katy has notified teachers if your classroom will be visited for walks.

UNWIND YOUR MIND, 4/3-4/4
T'Shunta and Carrie have planned some wonderful activities for 3rd-5th grade as part of "Unwind Your Mind".  Classroom teachers received the schedule of activities.  Please arrive to the auditorium during your activity time.

SUMMATIVE CONFERENCES
Like last year, we will hold summative conferences in two phases.  Phase One staff will receive information this week about scheduling summative conferences.  Phase Two staff will receive information the week of 4/21/25.

PASTRIES WITH PARENTS, 4/1-4/3 7:45-8:30 AM

We are excited to host our annual Pastries with Parents event.  Families will enjoy morning pastries and coffee in the cafeteria.  Visitors are required to sign-in at the front office.  With this location, it may result in more parents walking students to class.  We hope the 8:28 AM morning PA announcements will indicate to parents we have begun our instructional day.  You can also protect your instructional day by promptly beginning instruction at 8:30 AM to signal that learning has begun!

STUDENT TECHNOLOGY CHECKS
If students report issues with their technology (broken screen, sticking keys, etc.) please enter a Tech Ticket for Kim to repair the device before spring testing season begins.  This is especially important for 3rd-5th grade classrooms!

LOOKING AHEAD, EOG PREPARATION

EOG will begin in 17 days!  Looking ahead at required tasks for test preparation, please mark these dates in your calendar.

  • 4/2 - Complete ONLINE training (accessed through TKES) & Submit transcript to Adkison

Fall MAP & SOR Coaching Week = JEANS!

This week brought the joy of familiar routines to whole group and small group instruction!  Our students have settled so well into your high expectations for learning.  We saw small group instruction start right at the skill level appropriate for each student.  Next week during the SOR coaching week, we will review best practices for STEPS Lessons, HFW & Oral Language.  STEPS will provide the framework necessary for our instruction to "move as quick as it can, but as slow as it must."  Your lesson preparation during small group reading will ensure adequate practice opportunities (30+) are available every day for students to read and write words aligned to the target skill.  If you would like support planning for reading small group lessons, reach out to Mary Claire (K-3) or Katy (4-5).   On the math front, Katy shared district resources available on Schoology to support math instructional planning.  If you find you would like more time to...

Thanksgiving Break, Praise the Lord!
