PTA DIRECT DONATION UPDATE!
Way to go, 5B!  They are the first class to reach 100% participation in this year's PTA Direct Donation!  On September 10th, they will take a limo tour of Marietta and pizza party at Lewis Park.  But, the opportunity to support our PTA continues.  ALL classes that reach 100% participation in Direct Donation by September 12th will earn a SILENT DISCO PARTY on September 19th!  K5 is already joining the Silent Disco - who will join them?

MCS PRINCIPAL MEETING, 9/4
As a reminder, West Side will host the MCS principal meeting on Thursday, 9/4.  Attendees include all district principals, Dr. Rivera and his cabinet, and OAA coordinators.  The meeting will be held in the auditorium.  Classroom observations are scheduled between 10:35-11:00.  You received an email from Christina if your classroom is on the observation schedule.

GRAND PALS DAY, 9/5

Our PTA committee has planned a great Grand Pals day event!  Please review the run of show below for your activity time (hard copy of this will be in your box on Thursday!).  The committee has included some teacher planned activities done in previous years.  All Grand Pals can shop in the Book Fair during, or after the scheduled activity time.

Early dismissal sheets will be in your box on Thursday, for families to sign children out in the classroom IF they wish to leave early.

Poole’s Pharmacy will once again be offering free flu shots to Marietta City Schools staff.  If you are interested, a Poole’s representative will be at West Side Elementary on Wednesday, September 10, from 11 am – 1 pm in the SMALL CONFERENCE ROOM.  Appointments are not necessary; just come on by. Insurance cards are not required, but please do fill out the consent form in the link below, prior to receiving the vaccine.

SOR SHOWCASE
Great work by Stingers, for Stingers!  Check out the new SOR Showcase in the work room.  You will find SOR work happening across our school with real classroom examples.  On showcase now - STEPS lessons in intermediate grades using a variety of text resources including ReadWorks, Scholastic News, and text from the Bookroom.

Thanksgiving Break, Praise the Lord!

  YOU MUST SING THE BELOW IN THE TUNE OF DEF LEPPARD, POUR SOME SUGAR ON ME.  :) WHOOHOO!  You made it to Thanksgiving, and in the words of our Kinder ministers, "Praise the Lord!"  It was a great week of feasts, Kinder pilgrims, Wampanoag men/women, and turkeys!  Thank you for your flexibility with the busy events of the week.  As we move into the final weeks of Q2, our days will be filled with W&W Module and Math unit completion, assessment, field trips, and celebration.  Consistent routines will be very important during December to maximize your instructional time and provide necessary structure for students.
