Long Winter's Nap!

What a busy, festive, and meaningful week is has been!  From MAP testing, snow globes and other holiday surprises, wrapping up LDAs, Stingers Serve and more!  I know you're ready for that long winter's nap, just FIVE more days until that time has come.  As we move into the final week of the semester, please keep the following in mind:

  • Maintain normalcy for as long as possible!  When there are schedule changes, be sure to review these with students at the start of the day.
  • Keep a FULLY planned day - with as much time away from devices as possible!  If you have made time for the holiday challenges and need additional extension activities - reach out to Anna or Sarah!
  • If you need any support getting to the end of the semester, just reach out!  We are happy to pop into your room for a read-aloud, TWR lesson, choral counting, math challenge, or more!

SWEARING IN CEREMONY, 12/15
All 2nd & 5th grade students will attend the swearing in ceremony. Teachers - Please bring your class to the auditorium no later than 8:30 AM.

Singing Stingers will perform at the Mayor's swearing in ceremony on Monday, 12/15. They will depart for their field trip from the auditorium, returning to campus before 2:00 PM.

DAY 9! HOLIDAYS IN THE HIVE! TUESDAY, 12/16
Back again this year, on Day 9 of holiday cheer, we will be wrapping up your presents for loved ones at home. This treat will now occur on TUESDAY, DECEMBER 16th! We really hope you keep the elves busy ALL DAY long wrapping up your presents so your time during the break can be spent by the fire watching Christmas movies. Please read the steps below:
  1. Drop off the presents for your loved ones to the auditorium on TUESDAY, 12/16 between 7:30-8:30 AM.
  2. Put all the presents for your loved ones in a wagon or large bags. Label the wagon or large bags with your last name.
  3. Label each present with the recipients name for gift tags.
  4. You can bring your own wrapping paper for the elves to use, OR we have wrapping paper that will be used for your presents.
  5. If you have any special instructions for the elves, please write these down and leave them with your presents.
  6. All presents will be ready for pick-up by 3:30 PM.
TECH TIP FROM KIM - BLOCKSI

The launch of Blocksi came with several growing pains, but here are some updates!

  • Google Doc assignments were getting blocked in Schoology, but that issue is cleared now.  Please try again.
  • MANDATORY –
    • Teachers, you must login to Blocksi through Clever to import your classes.  If you are logging in directly to blocksi.net with your Google account, that will soon be disabled and will require starting over.
  • Questions about Blocksi:  email BlocksiFAQ@marietta-city.k12.ga.us         
  • Tech Issues with Blocksi:
    • For problems and technical issues, submit a Software Ticket in IIQ
    • Choose Software > Blocksi Chromebook Filtering

REMINDERS FROM LAST WEEK ARE BELOW!

Q2 REPORT CARD TIMELINE
Reach out to Lindsay if you have any questions or need support meeting the Q2 grade reporting deadlines. It is important you meet each of the dates below to ensure grades are reported before Winter Break!

  • Thursday, December 11th: Grading Window Opens
  • Tuesday, December 16th:  Specials, SPED Small Group Graded Segments, Gifted, AC ELA deadline for submitting grades.
  • Thursday, December 18th:  HR Teacher deadline for submitting grades.  Email admin confirming completion  All errors should be resolved.
  • Friday, December 19th:  Q2  grading window closed. No more updates.
  • Monday, January 5, 2026:  Report cards published to ASPEN.  We will NOT be sending home paper copies.

MOY ASSESSMENT PARENT REPORTS
MAP, LDAs & Amira parent reports will be provided to parents in January.  MAP & Amira are uploaded in Aspen and LDAs will be sent home hard copy in student Beelines.

Push your holiday activities to the next level with any of the holiday challenges shared during the faculty meeting last week.  When should these be used?  Only after your reading small groups have wrapped up.

WSSN!  HOW CAN I ACCESS THE WSSN EACH WEEK?
We have created a show page for teachers to easily access WSSN each week from your ViewBoard.  Follow these steps to create a shortcut to keep the show page one click away:
  1. Open the WSSN Show Page
  2. Click 3 dots on Google Toolbar
  3. Choose Cast, Save and Share
  4. Create Shortcut (It will appear on the Desktop)
  5. When you open the Shortcut, click on the Monday morning date to access WSSN for that week!
  6. Watch with your class. :)
STAFF ABSENCE REMINDERS!
There are THREE steps to follow, if you are going to out unexpectedly.
  1. Text both Carla and Lindsay.
  2. Fill out Employee Leave Yellow form (DIGITAL FORM HERE).
  3. Complete absence in Kelly/Frontline.

12 days of Holiday Cheer!

It's our favorite time of year - Holidays in the Hive!  We love surprising you throughout the month with littles treats and treasures to bring you holiday cheer.  Some teams began the off campus outings today, with more scheduled next week.  We hope you find you find the time for team fellowship to fill your cup. Fall Break, YES!

Fall break has arrived!!  It's a perfect time to rest and recharge before the busy month of October arrives.  Whether you're traveling next week, or staying close to home - I hope you are able to enjoy the slow pace of a break.  When we return from the break, we will jump right into our first SOR Cycle, conference week, HOCO, and all the other fall treasures.   Also when we return from the break, we have just TWO weeks left for Q1!  Keep focused on instructional goals for this quarter, maximizing your time with students in daily reading and math small group instruction.  Good-bye to our apples & jeans!  Soups & sweaters are coming soon!
