SNEAK-A-PEEK REMINDERS! 8/3

Your classrooms are ready for the Rodeo Show.  Thank you for the intentionality you have taken to create a warm, welcoming environment for our Stingers - a place that feels like home!  A tidy classroom is a happy classroom. :)  

  • 8:30-9:00 - Staff Children & PTA Board Members ONLY
  • 9:00-11:00 - Sneak-a-Peek
  • 12:00 - PTA Luncheon, Bring $10.00 (card only) to join PTA
  • 12:30 - 1st Day Faculty Meeting Reminders!

All HR teachers should display the Sneak-a-Peek slide in their classroom found on our Staff Schoology Course or HERE This slide includes the QR Dismissal form.  ALL families MUST complete this dismissal at Sneak-a-Peek for EACH child!  Please be sure to remind families as you meet them.

DUTY STAFF MEETING, 8/3
If you have an AM or PM duty, please join us for a meeting at 1:00 PM in the cafeteria to review duty expectations and reminders.

FIRST DAY PRIORITIES!
  1. Know how every student is going home!  On 8/3, we will provide you with a printed dismissal roster with for the first week.  Following Sneak-a-Peek, HR teachers should email families that did not complete the dismissal form during Sneak-a-Peek.  An upated dismissal roster will be passed out to teachers on 8/4.  Our transportation team will visit every classroom to deliver student transportation tags.
  2. Every students eats lunch!  Arrive to lunch on time.  Pre-teach cafeteria expectations (see slide show below).  Teachers eat lunch in the cafeteria on 8/4 & 8/5.  If students need additional support through the rest of the first week, we will notify specific teams.
  3. Begin & end the day with smiles!  Make the first day memorable.  One where students leave the first day ready to come back for day two!  You were hand selected for every student in your classroom.  Be a legend for your students. 
FIRST WEEK REMINDERS!
  1. Routines and procedures are explicitly taught, practice, practiced again, and mastered.  Teach routines for every behavior or procedure you expect in your classroom, cafeteria, recess, and hallways.
  2. Review cafeteria and recess expectations here with your students. You and your team can add to these expectations if you expect something above and beyond what we have included.  Pro-tip:  Review these just before recess and lunch.  Continue to review until mastery, re-teach throughout the year when needed.
  3. Establish your high expectations day one.  Hold students accountable to these expectations every day.
  4. Build community with your students.  Your class family will share the next 178 days together - how can you support them in learning to appreciate the unique gifts and interests each student brings to the classroom.

AC CLASSES (3RD-5TH GRADE)
All AC Math and AC ELA classes should begin on Wednesday, 8/5By end of day on 8/5, please send math teacher welcome emails AC & non/AC classes, IF math teacher different from HR teacher.

FREE EMPLOYEE CHILD CARE DURING WEDNESDAY MEETINGS
The wonderful Ms. Mitchell will provide free employee child care every Wednesday during required after school meetings.  If your child will attend this year, please complete the form below by 8/5.  First Faculty meeting is 8/12.


FALL LDAs
We will begin administration of LDAs next week.  It is a tight assessment timeline to maximize our instructional days and begin reading small groups.  All data must be entered by 8/12.

HR Teachers:  If you have any questions regarding the assessments you are responsible for administering, please reach out to Mary Claire.  If you would like the reading specialists to score your spelling assessments, please have them turned into Mary Claire by 8/8.  Reach out if you need any support to meet the assessment timelines!

WS ENRICHMENT KICK-OFF, 8/7 (4TH-5TH ONLY)
All 4th-5th grade students and teachers should attend the enrichment kick-off in the auditorium on Friday, 8/7 at 2:15 PM to learn about the many enrichment opportunities available to students.  Rachel will visit 3rd grade classrooms earlier in the day.

MILE TEACHER ASSIGNMENT NOTIFICATION & MILE UPDATES
Families of gifted students will received notification of teacher assignment on Thursday, 7/30 via email.  If parents reach out to you with specific questions regarding gifted, please direct them to Sarah Smith.  

Sarah will share 26-27 MILE program updates with teachers next week via email, including MILE schedule, teacher assignment for all gifted students, transition changes, and more.  MILE will begin on 8/10.

AMIRA K-3, 8/13-8/14
Remember to include the Amira assessment time on your plans for 8/13-15.  Testing schedule below.

WSSN!  HOW CAN I ACCESS THE WSSN EACH WEEK?

We have created a show page for teachers to easily access WSSN each week from your ViewBoard.  Follow these steps to create a shortcut to keep the show page one click away:
  1. Open the WSSN Show Page
  2. Click 3 dots on Google Toolbar
  3. Choose Cast, Save and Share
  4. Create Shortcut (It will appear on the Desktop)
  5. When you open the Shortcut, click on the Monday morning date to access WSSN for that week!
  6. Watch with your class. :)
STAFF ABSENCE REMINDERS!
There are THREE steps to follow, if you are going to out unexpectedly.
  1. Text both Carla and Lindsay.
  2. Fill out Employee Leave Yellow form (DIGITAL FORM HERE).
  3. Complete absence in Kelly/Frontline.
