Roudin' Out Week One!
It was a great first week of school! Thank you for all your hard work making it a wonderful start to the new school year. I am grateful for each of you! Know that you are somebody special to each of our students and families!
As we move into the second full week of school, continue dedicate time for explicit instruction in routines, procedures, and expectations. If you expect it, pre-correct it! Focus your time in positive reinforcement/praise (I like the way XXX has cleaned up their materials... thank you, XXX for showing you're ready) and explicit instruction of expectations. Live in pre-correction more than re-direction. :)
Our reading specialist team will continue administering LDAs and entering data to prepare for reading small group assignments later next week. See more information below about the start to reading small groups!

Reading small groups will begin on 8/17. On 8/14, teams will meet during planning to receive small group assignments and BOY LDA data. During this time, teams can also update small group rotation charts.
In preparation for reading small groups, next week teachers should cover classroom routines and procedures for working independently during the reading small group time. Ensure students know and understand expectations for working independently on meaningful reading/writing tasks. Practice this each day, as students build up their independence!

CAFETERIA UPDATES
Ms. Marta will return on Monday as one of our cafeteria monitors. We are actively looking for a second monitor to join her - if you know someone who would be a great fit, share the opportunity! Please continue to reinforce cafeteria routines/procedures before bringing students to lunch. Students will remain seated at their assigned table until lunchtime ends. Teachers will line up students at the end of lunch. Please teach students to line up in an orderly manner so students are prepared for respectful transitions in the hallway.
